Coker
Adopted! (11/1/09)

Meet Coker.  Coker is an active, healthy, 1 year old cocker mix.  He was surrendered to a shelter in South Carolina by his family, and his outlook was bleak.  CAFI arranged to have Coker transported to Northern Virginia to search for a new family and begin a new life.

Coker has a playful, high-spirited personality.  He can be a bit rambunctious given his puppyhood and all (he has some puppy jumping and nipping behavior), but he quickly responds to verbal correction.  He walks rather nicely on a leash.  His foster mom has been working to break his pulling habits by stopping the walk every time he pulls a bit on his leash.  He now understands that when she stops, he stops and sits next to her.  He's great off-leash!  He goes for walks twice a day in the woods behind his foster home.  He loves to run, chase the squirrels and comes back immediately when called.  He knows sit and stay and would pick up additional training easily.  He has learned to use the doggie-door freely in his foster house, and has had minimal accidents when staying in other homes without doggie-doors.  He is crated at night and when his people are out of the house, which he finds calming.  However, he'd love to be able to sleep in bed.  He's very loving and snuggly and loves to play with the toys.  He would do best in a home with an experienced dog handler with older children and/or adults that are highly active.  He gets two 30-minute walks a day and would make a great exercise partner.

Remi
Adopted!  (4/15/09)

Meet Remi:
Remi is a beautiful 3-4 year old buff male cocker spaniel who recently came to CAFI from a local shelter.  Remi is a very sweet and friendly little guy.  He absolutely loves people.  We're not sure about dogs and cats yet, but we will check that out very soon.  He has settled in nicely at his new foster home.  He enjoys his walks and rawhides, and he lets his foster mom brush him daily.

Remi has two cherry eyes that CAFI will have repaired, and he needs to be neutered before he is ready for adoption.

Toby
Adopted!  (3/8/09)

Meet Toby:
Toby is an absolutely adorable 7 month old cockapoo who came to CAFI a few months ago.  Toby's "mommy" was involved in a very serious car accident and CAFI fostered Toby under its Canine Peace of Mind program while she regained her strength and improved her mobility.  Unfortunately, Toby's mom will be unable to take him home and care for him as we had hoped.  So, now Toby is looking for a new forever home.

Toby is a wonderful and playful little guy.  He is housebroken and understands basic commands.  He gets along great with other dogs and people of all ages.  He loves to give kisses and cuddle, and he will be a wonderful addition to any home.

Rocky
Adopted! (12/20/08)

Meet Rocky.  This is one gorgeous 1 year old cocker.  He has a black merle coat with a white muzzle and white chest.  He sometimes barks at strangers, but once he feels comfortable with them, he is a very sweet and cuddly little guy who loves to give kisses and get his belly rubbed.  Rocky loves to play fetch with his squeaky rubber toys, and he thinks the dog park is about the best place in the whole world!  He walks well on a leash with minimal correction, and with a little more work, he will make a great running partner.  He is housebroken, and rarely has an accident.  (He has a doggie door in his foster home, and he uses it on his own.)  He can be left in a "puppy proofed" home while his people are out.  He knows the commands:  sit, down, shake hands, come, off, "uh-uh", leave it, and he sits and waits politely for his food.  Rocky still has a lot of "puppy energy" and would do best in a home with an owner who has the time and patience to continue his training and socialization.

Danny
Adopted! (11/15/08)

Meet Danny.
Danny is a stunning 4 year old cocker.  If you look closely at his pictures, you can see the tan points on his eyebrows that complement his beautiful black & white parti coat.  Danny was an owner surrender at a shelter, and he seems to have been loved -- he is sweet and playful.  Danny came to us with a cherry eye, but he has had surgery to correct that.  His eye is healing well, and his vision will not be affected.  He is healthy aside from an ear infection that is being treated.  Danny loves people, and he gets along with other dogs. He would do well in a either a multi-dog or single-dog home.  Danny needs a little work with his housebreaking, but he is making progress every day in his foster home.

Bailey
Adopted! (8/31/08)

Meet Bailey.  Baily is a very cute bouncing 6 month old cocker puppy who is just looking for a family to love him forever!  He is very loving and affectionate with humans of all ages.  He likes other dogs and really enjoys playing fetch with balls or stuffed toys. He is still working on his puppy inside manners but is doing quite well and almost "gets it".

Aly
Adopted! (8/11/08)

Meet Aly.  She is an adorable little spaniel mix (maybe cocker and dachshund?) who just loves to love.  She is about 2 years old and weighs around 15 pounds.  She is a great little cuddler, and she appears to be housebroken.  She learned how to use a doggie door within minutes.  She gets along great with other dogs, and seems to be OK with cats as well.  She does have some separation anxiety and does not like to be crated, so a home with another dog to keep her company or where someone will be with her most of the time would be preferred.

Daisy
Adopted! (5/23/08)

Meet Daisy.  Daisy is a sweet 3-1/2 year old Brittany Spaniel mix whose family is no longer able to provide the active lifestyle she deserves.  Daisy gets along great with other dogs and children.  She is housebroken and trained to use a doggie door.  She is trained to stay off furniture, and she knows the basic commands of "sit", "stay", and "quiet."

JenJen (Jenni)
Adopted! (5/6/08)

Meet JenJen.
JenJen is an adorable five year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She was adopted at 8 weeks from a breeder in the Netherlands by her family while they were assigned overseas.  She returned with them to the U.S. and they all planned to live together happily ever after.  Last year, however, JenJen's mom had triplets.  As much as everyone - including JenJen's 10 year old human sister - love her, there just isn't as much time or space for her.  With all those babies, it became too hard to get JenJen out for the frequent long walks that she used to go on, and her free run of the house was reduced, because the babies needed more space.  JenJen's mom could tell that she just wasn't as happy as she used to be, and she wanted her to have a home where she could be showered with attention.  JenJen is a love-bug.  She loves to cuddle, get belly rubs, and give kisses.  She has an adorable little whine when she is excited, and she is not a barker.  She is good with children, cats, and female dogs.  She loves to ride in the car.

Update 11/14/08:  JenJen, or Jenni as we now call her has become a real member of the family.  She and Red are inseparable and could not be more compatible.  She is a leader, he is a definite follower.  She loves her new brother Red and her cousin Charlie, both Rubies.  Jenni is a strong little girl that is always happy just spending hours with us.  We took them both to the Appalachian Trail the other day and she out ran all of us, straight up the mountain side.  Jenni came to us with some hearing problems, but it doesn't stop her from doing anything.  She also enjoys so much more now that she has her own "hearing aide" dog, Red.  She watches his face and body language and picks up on his every nuance.  It's been a joy having her with us and it's hard to remember what it was like without her.  Thanks so much to Cockers & Friends for choosing us as her new "forever home."  The Bennetts
